Systems Strengthening

At Firm Health Care Foundation, we believe that sustainable health begins not just in hospitals, but in communities—through awareness, prevention, and systems that work for everyone.

Our integrated focus on Health Promotion, Community Engagement, and Health Systems Strengthening is designed to address the systemic gaps in Nigeria’s health landscape—especially for vulnerable populations in rural and underserved areas.

What We Do

Why This Focus Matters

Nigeria ranks among the countries with the highest burden of preventable diseases globally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO):

  • Over 70% of health spending in Nigeria is out-of-pocket, leading to catastrophic health expenditure for poor families.
  • Less than 20% of Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the country meet minimum standards for functionality.
  • Many communities still lack access to basic health information, preventive services, and responsive care systems.

This is why we are working to decentralize access to health, raise awareness on preventable diseases, and build resilient health systems from the ground up.

Health Promotion & Preventive Campaigns

We organize health fairs, door-to-door sensitization, mobile outreaches, and school health programs that educate people on hygiene, nutrition, maternal health, NCDs, and disease prevention.

Community-Led Health Solutions

We train and mobilize community health champions, religious and traditional leaders, and youth ambassadors to spread lifesaving messages and encourage healthy behavior in hard-to-reach communities.

Primary Healthcare System Strengthening

We collaborate with health facilities and local governments to improve the availability, quality, and responsiveness of health services—especially in PHCs. This includes training of frontline health workers, infrastructure support, and digital health innovations.

Advocacy for Health Equity

We drive policy advocacy to ensure fair financing, equitable access, and stronger public-private partnerships that enhance health care delivery across Imo State and beyond.

Our Impact Goals (2024–2027)

By December 2027, we aim to:

  • Reach 100,000 people across 50 communities with health education and screening campaigns.
  • Support 200 PHCs with tools, trainings, and facility upgrades to improve service delivery.
  • Train 2,000 community health volunteers as first responders and health educators.
  • Strengthen referral systems between rural communities and health facilities to reduce maternal and child mortality.

Aligning with Global Goals

This work directly supports:

  • SDG 3 – Good Health & Well-being: By promoting health equity and universal access to care.
  • SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: By targeting underserved communities.
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Through multisectoral collaboration with government, CSOs, and development partners.

Why You Should Support This Vision

A healthier Nigeria begins with healthy communities. But we cannot achieve this alone. Your support can:

  • Train a health educator for just $15/month
  • Equip a rural PHC with diagnostic tools for $500
  • Fund a community outreach for $1,000

Together, we can prevent needless deaths, strengthen systems that save lives, and build a health-secure future for generations.

Let’s strengthen health from the grassroots because no one should be left behind.
